VOIP is not just a funny sounding word. Voice over internet protocol is taking the internet by storm. Making video phone calls and using the internet as your phone line is all the rage. To do this you need to choose and SIP Provider. Many people think that they are all the same and any service can offer you VOIP and off you go. This is not the case. SIP stands for session initiation protocol. VOIP uses this protocol to make it work, but there is so much more that goes into it. To get started using an SIP provider all you really need is the software and an address. This could be an IP address or an e-mail address. Some SIP providers offer voice mail and other features that you may or may not need. When you are unavailable, callers will hear a recorded message. They can leave a message that you will be able to listen to at your convenience. When making a call, you simply enter in the address of the person you wish to communicate with. The software searches for the address, and then connects your software with their software and WHAMMY you are talking.

The great thing about SIP is that it is extremely cheap or free. Now, it's time to chose a provider and make sure that they are the right provider for you and the needs you have in your home or business.
When choosing an SIP Provider it is best to check out the services they offer, the price, and then compare it to what you need. Most of us would not need to send huge amounts of medical data through the internet. Most of us do not call Romania on a regular basis. Choose package with options that you will use, and don't pay for options that you will never mess with. There are lots of services out there with hundreds of different options. Do some research and choose the one that works for you.
